The day after day

. . . Instead, let worship fill your heart and spill out in your words.

Ephesians 5:4 (TPT)

So may the words of my mouth, my meditation thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, my only Redeemer, my Protector- God.

Psalm 19:14

In Ephesians 5 Paul warns us to protect and control the way we speak, abandoning worthless insults because they bring disgrace and are unnecessary. He then tells us to alternately allow worship to overwhelm our hearts and spill out in our words. This is all negative speech not just obvious terrible words. Words we might offer someone but it holds hurt and dismissive intent.

You may have heard it many settings that our words have the power to build up or to destroy. For me personally my words have been destructive. It hasn't been immediate destruction but words here and there so over time has hu

rt people I care about. I have not allowed the adoration of the Lord to fill my heart and spill over into my words.

I've noticed this has not only hurt those around me but I'm slowly not recognizing myself. As soon as bitter words leave my mouth I feel defeated. Normally sweet words of encouragement leave my mouth. When we admire and love someone we typically want to please them weather in our actions or words. We don't want to hurt them or cause them to not want to be around us. To be pleasing to the Father is to offer words that heal those around us rather than hurt them.

Learning to change these small things that have bigger impact causes us to walk as new creation people. As we begin to recognize the parts of us that aren't lining up with how the Lord wants us to live we can begin to surrender that over and ask Him to help us walk out of that old thinking.

Words are huge, the words we speak to and over people as well as ourselves matters. Speaking negatively over someone sticks and soon becomes their reality. We all will remember the hurtful words someone had for us over the few life-giving ones. Lets choose to operate from that overflow place with the Father, offering words that bring Him glory.

My Prayer for you

Father, Thank you that your ways are far greater than our own. Lord instead of worthless, nonsensical words help us to shift our thinking and begin to speak in a manor that is pleasing to you. That we would wait on you to offer words of encouragement we wouldn't speak from our flesh or our thinking. Lord I just want my heart to be in a posture of worship to you in everything that I do. Thank you for a fresh word with the reminder that I get to choose to heal or hurt. May the words of my mouth reflect your goodness. In Jesus Holy and precious name

Amen.
